Open Computer Vision Library Reference Manual: Intel Corporation USA 2001 Edition

OpenCV (Open Source Computer Vision Library) is a library of programming functions mainly for real-time computer vision.[1] Originally developed by Intel, it was later supported by Willow Garage, then Itseez (which was later acquired by Intel[2]). The library is cross-platform and licensed as free and open-source software under Apache License 2. Starting in 2011, OpenCV features GPU acceleration for real-time operations.[3]

OpenCV [OpenCV] is an open source (see ) computer vision library available from In 1999 Gary Bradski [Bradski], working at Intel Corporation, launched OpenCV with the hopes of accelerating computer vision and artificial intelligence by providing a solid infrastructure for everyone working in the field. The library is written in C and C++ and runs under Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. There is active development on interfaces for Python, Java, MATLAB, and other languages, including porting the library to Android and iOS for mobile applications. OpenCV has received much of its support over the years from Intel and Google, but especially from Itseez [Itseez] (recently acquired by Intel), which did the bulk of the early development work. Finally, Arraiy [Arraiy] has joined in to maintain the always open and free OpenCV.org [OpenCV].

In OpenCV 3.0, the previously monolithic library has been split into two parts: mature opencv and the current state of the art in larger vision functionality at opencv_contrib [opencv_contrib]. The former is maintained by the core OpenCV team and contains (mostly) stable code, whereas the latter is less mature, is maintained and developed mostly by the community, may have parts under non-OpenCV license, and may include patented algorithms.

This SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT (this "Agreement") is entered into between Intel Corporation, a Delaware corporation, and of itself and its wholly-owned subsidiaries ("Intel") and You. "You" refers to you or your employer or other entity for whose benefit you act, as applicable. If you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of this Agreement on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent and warrant that you have the legal authority to bind that legal entity to the Agreement, in which case, "You" or "Your" shall be in reference to such entity. Intel and You are referred to herein individually as a "Party" or, together, as the "Parties". In consideration of the mutual covenants contained in this Agreement, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which the parties acknowledge, and intending to be legally bound, the parties agree as follows: 1. PURPOSE. You seek to obtain, and Intel desires to provide You, under the terms of this Agreement, Software solely for Your internal efforts to develop or to test and evaluate products integrating Intel hardware and Intel software. "Software" refers to certain Intel I/O buffer models (IBIS/ HSPICE simulation models), including specific design files (encrypted HSPICE I/O buffer netlists, IBIS behavioral data), format test benches (HSPICE simulation decks) and/or suite of test vectors (I/O feature library settings), and product/user documentation relating to the I/O Buffer Models, which have been provided along with or pursuant to this Agreement, and including any updates or releases thereto. All references to "Altera" included in the Software shall be deemed to refer to Intel. "Intel-based product" refers to a device that includes, incorporates, or implements an Intel CPLD or FPGA. 2ff7e9595c
